Much the same way that Friday The 13th kicked off the whole slasher movie genre, it's sequel, the aptly named Friday The 13th Part 2, made it so that people setting out to make a horror flick practically had to start thinking ahead to future films before they even finished the first one. (Cause having a character die in a film is one thing, having them die in a way that would make it impossible for the remains to be reanimated in some fashion is a whole other story.) To get back to the film at hand though, this one pretty much picks up where the first one left off. The girl who survived, Alice, has been quietly living alone with her cat since the "incident" with Mrs. Voorhees. And just in case anyone forgot what incident we're talking about, the folks behind this film decided to recap the entire contents of the original film and show the whole ending - including the surprise part of the "surprise" ending - via a dream sequence-y flashback type thing. From this we can assume the filmmakers are very, very thoughtful people. That, or they just couldn't quite figure out how to fill 90 minutes with this sequel's "plot." It really doesn't make any difference, because we know what we're in for at this point. We're not expecting a lot of plot, we're expecting someone - possibly Jason himself - to kill people; possibly starting with Alice, which is exactly what happens. After the credit roll we meet a nice young couple (of potential victims, ba-dum-bum) driving along in a pick-up truck. They pull over in a dismal dusty town (which we recognize as the same dismal dusty town the last group of victims visited) and fatefully come across the exact same crazy "You kids are doomed! DOOMED!!" dude who accurately predicted the fate of the last group of teenagers to make a pit stop in their sleepy suburb. But, much like their predecessors, these jaded teenagers ignore the warning and head off to their summer job anyway. And what is their summer job you ask? Why, they're camp counselors of course. Hmmm, I wonder what camp they're going to work at… could it be… Camp Blood? Well, I suppose it could be but, believe it or not, it's not. They decided to throw us a bit of a curve ball with that one so these teenagers are not going to work at Camp Blood. They're going to work at the camp next to the now abandoned site of the former Camp Blood. (Zing!) Later that night, while the whole crew of horny teenagers are huddled around the fire, the camp director lays down the legend of Jason Voorhees, yet again, as a way of entertainment. He adds further fuel to the proverbial flame of the Voorhees legend by telling the counselors-to-be that, as the police never recovered the body, many believe that Jason hid in the woods where he's been living all these many years, waiting for just the right moment to exact his revenge. And, if that fails, to pounce on anyone who dares to enter his whacked out woodsy wonderland. Needless to say, it doesn't take too long before some of the nosier teens head on over to casa de Voorhees and set the whole Jason-Jason-Jason-kill-kill-kill thing in motion once again. Without giving away the whole rest of the movie, let's just say that by the time the end credits roll plenty of blood has been spilled, the camp's staff has been considerably lessened, and the audience is left with plenty of reasons to believe there will be a part three.
